Still Room to Sign Up!
Since Dickie Chang first suggested an annual Kauai United Way Benefit Golf Tournament back in 2000, it has grown to become the smoothest run, most fun and anticipated tournament on the island featuring the most and best prizes. Once in a while, when we get a call from another non-profit seeking tips on putting on their own tournament, we – the staff – just look at one another and smile. Of course, we always want to help, but the honest fact is that putting on a golf tournament is a tremendous amount of work and it takes years for it to settle into the near-automation mode we have achieved with ours. It starts with a highly-driven committee of volunteers – the more the better – and we have that, this year Chaired by Kenneth Kimura of Kauai Lagoons. These are the folks that work with the staff to drum up all the incredible prizes our tournament has become famous for. They also help to secure sponsors, which is where we raise the majority of money (which supplements our Annual Campaign which supports our Participating Agencies, of course, that keep robust social services available in our community, making all our lives brighter.) Leading up to the tournament, and on the day of the tournament itself, staff and volunteers know what needs to be done to keep everything moving along at the right pace. In short, our tournament is the best because we have a lot of dedicated people who know what they’re doing working very hard to make it a success!
Mahalo to our major sponsors: Grove Farm, HGEA, Oceanic Time Warner, Earthworks Pacific, Hawaii LECET, Hawaiian Telcom and our newest major sponsor, IBEW.
There still remains space for a couple of more teams, so if you’re interested call Lori at 245-2043 right away. There is always room for you to benefit by associating your name or message with this high-profile event, giving you the kind of exposure no amount of advertising dollars can provide. To learn more, check out the events link on our website or call us at 245-2043. We hope to see you there!
